I don't think it is the begining of any end for the balloons, as there is a brand new Balloon ident being screened on 12th September.
The demise of the balloons as with the BBC 2 identities, will happen overnight without much warning. I like the BBC Balloons, although some of the newer soundtracks are a bit naff: Carnival, skateboarders, and a couple of others.
Jazz up the orignals a bit more, and add some new locations such as: balloon floating over deserted beach (theres plenty of deserted beaches near me).
Another balloon that already exists, but dosent get enough use on the main BBC 1 or BBC 1 Wales is the mystical Grey Abbey ident
But if the balloons were to be given the boot - any replacement idents would have to use real-life scenes such as the balloons did. The scenery used is great, and I've picked up this rather odd bug of whatever I'm doing or looking at I'm thinking 'how could that be used as an ident?'
sad i know
Perhaps I should stick to what i know best, and leave Lambie Nairn to to the brainwork and then collect its £500,000 fee!!
