I'm sure that's going to fuel speculation as to whether he really had a mystery illness the other week, or if he actually walked out. It all seems to be too much of a coincidence.
But a shame, all the same. I found him by far the funniest panelist. The other regulars all tend to be a bit average. They really need to find a good replacement who will bring in the viewers. I can't imagine many people tune in especially to see Russell Howard or that bald bloke with Griff Rhys-Jones' voice whose name escapes me at the moment.

Maybe he's just saving material for his own programme.
Incidently he did release a podcast at the start of this series called Mock The Week Musings (you can find it, annoying, only on iTunes) - it's him trying out jokes for the recording in front of a comedy club audience. I'm not sure if it was meant to be a regular thing but only 1 seems to have been made.

Could well be. A friend saw him live on stage a while back, and was a bit disappointed that she'd heard all his jokes before on MTW.

Yes, I was hoping for more than just the one. It was interesting to hear some of the jokes which didn't make it into the show though, many of which I'm sure would have caused even more tabloid outrage than the notorious 'haunted pussy' comment.
And finally, I've decided not to do any more Mock The Week. I've done what feels like a good few thousand of them now and I feel I've mocked the **** out of the week. I salute everybody there (salutes). I'm going to concentrate on next year's tour and some other funny things I'm writing. Be careful out there everybody.
Heil Hitler
Frankie x
I'm hoping that they won't have another permanent panellist, and instead allow for more guests to appear.
I believe Frankie has said (or has been quoted as having said) that he plans to quit stand-up when he's 40, which I believe is two years hence. One of the reasons cited, is that he now has a young family; doesn't want to miss his kids growing up, by being on the road.
I think he plans to go into writing more, a latterday Barry Cryer figure. Speaking of which, his book is ace.... got it yesterday from Amazon. It's a must for Frankie fans!
I wonder who will replace him on MTW-- David Mitchell perhaps? Or maybe Ed Byrne? Maybe just a rota of panelists. It won't be the same though.

Well that is the problem for comedians who appear on TV regularly - TV eats material. They can tour and do the same set every night for a year if they want.... but as soon as they do those jokes on TV they're effectively dead.
Frankie's made a name for himself now, he can pull in big crowds and big money touring without the work of having to write new stuff weekly

I wonder if the producers of MTW put the Kybosh on it? The interesting( although not surprising) thing about it is what they are given to work with before each programme
