I didn't know much about the London bombings until that evening because I didn't have access to a TV for most of that day. If I had Sky News or BBC on my phone I would have known straight away.
Most of the features on mobile channels are less than 3 minutes long anyway.
Some mobile channels in the style of EuroNews or the ITN mobile videos might work - one for news, one for sport, entertainment, weather, etc. People don't actually sit down and watch it for hours on end anyway - that's not the intention but it's really useful if something happens and you need info fast.

I've found streaming TV on phones very strange.
It seems that Mobile TV has gone the exact opposite way than standard TV has.
It started out a couple of years ago with on-demand clips, and now they seem to be slowly ditching that in favour of live TV.
I edit Mobile TV clips for ITV that are available on the mobile portal as on-demand clips, which I think is a much better way of doing it. As many people have said above, if you've got a TV, why the hell would you want to watch anything live on your mobile? I think if you really enjoyed something on TV, and you wanted a copy of it to watch again, on-demand works fine, but live TV over a 3G connection is abysmal, even in a strong signal area!
I've never quite understood the preference for streaming, but it looks like its the way forward.
