I'm also in Ireland. I got a Vodafone 3G mobile in December 05. Vodafone's live feeds of Sky News (main channel and the
Headlines
miniscreen) were quite good [before they decided to start charging for everything in sight]....
I switched to 3 just after Christmas and their RTE and ITN on-demand reports are good and they don't charge for them, but the lack of live TV (for now at least) is a bit annoying.
But from what I've seen of some of the 3G entertainment channels (Bravo, Sky One etc) they're not the actual channels but the same 15 minutes of film played on a loop and updated daily. It's not worth whatever they're charging, even if it's only €2 a week.

You look at that big expensive widescreen HDTV flatscreen you paid so much for, and think no I'll watch TV on a s**ty little screen that's about the size of contact lens
I would'nt want to have a bath in my kitchen shink, so why would want to watch TV on my phone???

I really don't understand why anyone would need mobile TV.
In what situation would you want to watch TV on a 3" screen?
Edit: Bewitched got there with the same point before me.

But that must be quite a limited market considering the billions they spent on the 3G licences and If you are on a Virgin Train on the West Coast Mainline, you can forget about a signal.

I've found streaming TV on phones very strange.
It seems that Mobile TV has gone the exact opposite way than standard TV has.
It started out a couple of years ago with on-demand clips, and now they seem to be slowly ditching that in favour of live TV.
I edit Mobile TV clips for ITV that are available on the mobile portal as on-demand clips, which I think is a much better way of doing it. As many people have said above, if you've got a TV, why the hell would you want to watch anything live on your mobile? I think if you really enjoyed something on TV, and you wanted a copy of it to watch again, on-demand works fine, but live TV over a 3G connection is abysmal, even in a strong signal area!
I've never quite understood the preference for streaming, but it looks like its the way forward.

As Mark Watson said on 'Mock The Week.' " No, I'll watch TV clips on my TV. I'm about as interested in watching TV on my phone, as I am in peeing in my tumble dryer."

I don't object to the idea of channels such as Sky News, ITN News, BBC News etc being available on the Mobile, as it's very handy if you're out of the house or office all day and you wish to catch up.
But I think it's pointless when you see people watching last night's Coronation Street on the bus on the way to work, I don't think that bit will catch on.
