Does BBC HD count towards these missing idents?
I'm specifically referring to the trial period from mid 2006 to late 2007. I've searched YouTube for them but never tracked them down.
What I'd love to see again and have restored to a readily archive (in proper aspect ratio, of course) would be...
* long and short BBC HD ident (with the first version of the music)
* breakfiller (not sure if that's the correct word but before it became an official channel, nearly all gaps between programmes consisted of a montage from BBC HD shows with Craig Armstrong's "Ball" as the music) (multiple version exist of this with 30 second versions and two minute versions)
* coming up slides
Thanks for raising this; I hadn't known the Pres from the 2006 - 2007 period was so scarce.
Examples of the 3 lengths of ident (though sadly not in HD) should be online soon...
Great stuff, Paul. Can't wait to see it. Thanks.
Out of all those I'd love to see the long breakfiller again. I got Sky HD pretty much from launch and loved the style and almost retro presentation and music of the BBC HD channel.
From memory, they seemed to change them every two months with new programming line ups. The first one when the channel launched featured heavily Hotel Babylon, Planet Earth, Hustle and a drama documentary about Yellowstone National Park's volcano erupting.
I remember that Heroes was one of the few shows that got its own trailer. Identical to the BBC 2 one except for the end where the graphic sweep in was different.
When it became a proper channel, the idents stayed the same for a little while but was replaced by awful music. Then, sometime in Summer 2008, the ident package totally changed to something where the BBC HD logo emerged from the sea. Wasn't very nice. The logo was way too big on the screen, imo.
