This is quite interesting as a Google search reveals absolutely no proof of a 'Gay Night' ever existing, the only two major results being that page and this forum thread. Nothing on the BFI database either which is usually good at recording theme nights. Anyone know if it ever actually happened and it's not just someone making it up for a laugh?
+1 Wasn't Thames's 'The Naked Civil Servant' screened ?
There was a gay night and it was aired on 16th November 1991. Started at 8.35pm and finished at 1.40am. The Naked Civil Servant was screened. (Times Digital Archive)
Ah-ha, thanks - I was wondering it was tied in with the launch of Gaytime TV but that was a few years later. Certainly one to look out for as I've seen that text on the MHP site for years but never seen even a picture!
Basically I just did a search for "Naked Civil Servant" on Times Digital Archive and the article I just posted was only time this was shown in the 90s and on the BBC.

Sorry I meant to say nothing ELSE is coming up on Guardian newspaper, and what you what you have postage is the only time it is listed.
