I don't know what her old shift was but Adrian Finnigan who she normally anchors with on the London-Washington programme, presented The World Today this morning.

Mishal Husain used to present the 8-12 BBC World News before she went off to Washington.

Interesting that Adrian Finegan presented the World Today, I guess Mishal is back and looking gorgeous as ever! Razz

Yes Mishal is now permently back in London. She presents the 2100 2200 2300 and 0000 BST buls as well as Heathrow express. The 2300 and 0000 now lead from London rather than Washington. Adrian has moved to the early shift for a while

So who will be fronting the Washington end of the programme now that she has left?

how do u know its a permanent move? There was speculation she would stay until the 2004 U.S elections. I have 2 theories. But in response, Ian pannell fronted the bulletin from Washington and he was awful. All he did was read off the teleprompter. They have to choose someone else.

1) She could have requested to move back to London as she found Washington boring and preferred to be near her family.
2) she knew BBC World would launch in America this year and decided that she was no longer needed to front the newscast from Washington.

That's a shocker, she did some stuff here for PBS not too long ago. She hosted show called Wide Angle. I try to record her hosting the begining.

I noticed that Adrian did The World Today yesterday (not sure about today) could he be a permanent presenter of TWT from now on?

If Mishal is back, then who's shift has she taken over?

I beleive Mishal used to do the shift she's doing now, before going to Washington. Adrian Finnighan had been doing it for some time now, though. Also, it appears he is doing TWT/European Breakfast now, except I don't know if it is permanent. It's got to be hard to go from ending your day presenting the news, to starting your day presenting the news.

For Washington, I hope Katty Kay comes back soon. I reckon she's either on assignment or on holiday. I think she and Mishal would do a good job together.

Yes, I presume it would be Katty Kay - what a great name that is !!!

the presenters seem to be bodged quite a bit on bbc world at the moment, and i thought News 24 was bad!

Mishal is permanently back in London, and Adrian has temporarily taken over the early morning shift - someone else will take over eventually.

No, they're just having a slight reshuffle - as it stands at the moment:

0500-0800 - Adrian Finighan
0800-1200 - Martine Dennis
1200-1600 - Nisha Pillai
1600-2000 - Nik Gowing
2100-0100 - Mishal Husain

That said, it is summer, so some presenters are off at the moment.
