It would be nice to see the inclusion of a gameshow in the new Saturday morning show, like you used to get ie. Mouse Trap, Double Dare, Run the Risk etc, rather than endless cartoons and american imports.

Watched Dick & Dom a bit yesterday, I have to say it's really puerile nonsense. Strange to see this sort of childrens TV on mainstream BBC One, especially as the majority accuse ITV of dumbing down. Laughing

I found out the presenters are:
Arrow Steven Mulhurn from SM:TV Rolling Eyes Not him again Exclamation
Arrow Micheal Underwood from CiTV Rolling Eyes Not him Again Exclamation
&
Arrow Holly Willoughby from CBBC Rolling Eyes Not her again Exclamation

We established this a while ago.

I'd like to see a gameshow on it too. I guess Challenge Ant was SM:tv's equivalent or Wonkey Donkey, but Challenge Ant was more of a grand event with it's own 'studio' so to speak.

Of course, Challenge Ant was terruibly overused and went through quite a few incarnations including 'Challenge Brain' and 'Brian's Brain'.

And Wonkey Donkey's never been the same since Ant and Dec did it - shouting and taking the p**s out of the callers!

So RDJ, I take it you're not too keen on the chosen team for the new saturday show?

I'd say something that is a mix of T4, Heat magazine and the original RI:SE would be best.

Since Dick N Dom is more for pre-teens, one aimed at 16-21 year olds getting ready for work or to go out for the day with friends would be a success, I think.

Good US imports such as My Wife and Kids and What I Like About You teamed with some new UK shows would be a feature of this.

Also there'd be good music and bands performing and a presenting team along the lines of June and Vernon, Simon and Miquita.

I see a hit.

I cant think of a name though, Saturday:AM is my best one!

Sounds just like T4 to me. As you say, Dick and Dom is for pre-teens, so a target audience of about 11-16 would probably be the route they are going down

If it was on until midday, they could call it "am 2 pm"

any good? Confused

Whatever the new show is, I'll definately give it a try. I just don't like the thought of having a lie in on a Saturday Morning after all these years of getting up for SM:TV!

I was thinking something more like 'Saturday Live'. I'd like to see the presenters being free to enjoy themselves. Although Vernon Kay and June always seem a bit stoned, their presenting style seems natural and unscripted and I would like this impromptu aspect on the new show.

That'll be why ITV were going to pay a lot of money to buy Da Bungalow to replace SMTV then! Laughing

I don't think ITV wanted the show itself, they just tried to poach Dick and Dom, as a sort of Ant and Dec replacement. That's why Da Bungalow was quickly promoted to BBC1!
