Let's face it, now that Dick and Dom have changed the format of Saturday mornings, what does ITV have to do in order to convincingly win back the audience?

Bring back Ant Dec and Maybe Cat to present a show together.

They should 'Go Back to Basics'.

Look at MTV's 'TRL'. A very simple idea done well.

They just need some live music, or even some music videos, some interesting guests, and some comedy thrown in for good measure.

Oh, and some good, likeable presenters.

They'll need to launch a show that's as equally puerile and messy. In other words . . . Bring Back TISWAS!

If there's one thing ITV can do, it's successfully relaunch an old show that was cancelled many years ago!

DJGM suddenly remembers the Crossroads debacle . . .

Oh well, on second thoughts, forget it . . . !

I don't think there's much wrong with SM:tv to be honest. It's getting better again. Some must have things are:

Comedy
Good Music
Interesting Guests
Interactivity (such as ask guests questions)
Live audience
Big, widescreen, open studio
Live

Personally, I don't find Dick and Dom's show appealing. I prefer SM:tv because it's more grown up and focuses on celebrity news. Although the Saturday Show is almost a complete clone on SM:tv now, so that market is already filled (for half of the year).

For me, shows with big studios and live audiences have more oompf than shows with no audience and a small studio (compare SM:tv and Saturday Milkshake for example). I've got the feeling that they might 'do a GMTV' by starting completely different from SM:tv then slowly becoming SM:tv again.

A bit like the Saturday Show and Live and Kicking, then!

Indeed, but its Carlton behind this new adventure. Carlton don't do basic do they?

As long as it’s got good tunes, nice toons and not too much padding here, padding there, padding everywhere, then I think ITV could come up with the goods.

ITV needs a new 'Kids duo'. Ant and Dec are more 'For the family' now. The BBC were full of duos. Dick and Dom, Zoe and Jamie, Andi and Emma.

Lets hope this new show is a good one.

Stephen and Barney (?) work quite well together.

Good point Jay! I have to admit that I haven't found Stephen as annoying since he's been doing Saturday mornings, although I think the 'magic thing' is getting a bit tired. Des on the other hand never seems comfortable when he's just being himself, however stick him in a costume and a wig and he comes to life! Razz

I agree that ITV have to go back to basics and that at lot is going to rest on the presenters...anyone know who's in the running?
