After Simon Amstell left the show got a bit tired in my opinion. Amstell continuously provided an entertaining and comedic performance, reaching a peak with the infamous Preston episode.

It's gotten pretty silly recently, with an inferior new title sequence and set even though the show is still in SD so there wasn't much point in it, considering the original package lasted 9 years and the previous package had only been around for 5 and still felt new.

But the main thing is the host - David Hasselhoff and Lorraine Kelly? Really? For a music show? The only thing saving it is the team captains, the long-standing Phil Jupitus and the worthy successor to Bill Bailey and Sean Hughes, Noel Fielding.

However, I think Buzzcocks has found their next host in the form of Adam Buxton. Hilarious show the other night, with the internet comments round and Moby tie-breaker being the standout moments. Maybe it was just a one-off, but this is a host who has a very popular show with Joe Cornish on 6Music, and so knows a few things about music itself.

What does everyone else think? I think if they bring back Buxton, then Buzzcocks will still have some life in it yet.

I'm not a massive fan of Buxton, but he was better than I expected. I think if Buzzcocks went back to having a fixed host, it'd probably do more harm than good. I think HIGNFY proves that theory. If somebody doesn't like the host that week, then they might like the host the following week. IMO, that's a wonderful system.

It does seem a good idea though it also seems to make it seem like there's a level of indecisiveness from the bods up top and once the audience get used to the idea of a cycling host, there's not much you can do to get one to stick.

Still, haven't really enjoyed it since Mark Lamarr left.

I absolutely detest having a different presenter every week on Buzzcocks although I think it does work on HIGNFY. The presenting style on Buzzcocks has to have a certain... tone (or something!) that so very many presenters have failed to grasp which has ended up with loads of episodes being awkward and frankly unwatchable. I really wish the BBC would put their foot down and find someone permanent. They've done it before and managed to make the show much better, I'm sure they could do it again.

I think that like HIGNFY, Phil and Noel have become the main stars in the same way Ian and Paul have (albeit Noel has been on the show for a considerably less amount of time) so they get a chance to have a bit of fun with whatever host comes in such as Lorraine Kelly.

But I want to watch a show without having to skip several episodes just because I don't like the host. It gives the show a more solid foundation.

With HIGNFY, it doesn't really matter because everyone reads and watches the news or at least hears about it, whereas with Buzzcocks we had respected presenters like Lamarr and Amstell that had been around on radio and TV in the previous and following years whilst being entertaining, something that Buxton displayed very well - they have good knowledge about music and the business, and besides, even though we've had bizarre guest hosts for HIGNFY, I doubt they'd ever go as far as getting David Hasselhoff or Lorraine Kelly on!

And I wouldn't put it past them to have the Hoff.

They have had the Hoff - the week before Lorraine!

Lorraine was actually pretty good - I know she's nothing to do with music but it was quite funny and she made a good host. Wouldn't want her as a regular though..
