Guest hosts for Buzzcocks

BBC2's irreverent music quiz Never Mind the Buzzcocks is to adopt Have I Got News for You-style guest hosts for its next series in 2006.
Mark Lamarr, who has fronted the BBC2 show since it launched in 1996, is to take a break next year, opening the door for other TV presenters, celebrities and music pundits to make a name for themselves.
Lamarr's acerbic presenting style has been a key feature of Buzzcocks' success over the years, with the targets for his sarcastic asides including pop stars Robbie Williams, Phil Collins, Blue, Westlife, Geri Halliwell and Elton John.
However, with Lamarr planning to take a breather from the show for the first time in a decade, guest presenters will have a chance to shine.
Personalities as diverse as William Hague, Anne Robinson, Des Lynam, Greg Dyke, Charlotte Church, Bruce Forsyth and Boris Johnson have had a chance to show off witty one-liners on Have I Got News for You since the BBC1 panel show adopted guest presenters three years ago.
Guest presenters were introduced to the programme after long-serving host Angus Deayton was dropped by the BBC, following a series of lurid tabloid revelations about his private life had "made him the subject of headlines rather than a commentator on them".
Lamarr is expected to return to Buzzcocks, which is made by independent producer Talkback Thames, after taking a break next year.
