It all launches on ITV Digital on Saturday 24th December.  From that date ITV2 will transmit WWTBAM at the same time as ITV1 does but with added interactivity.  You get to play along with the same questions as the contestants, for points, including the fastest finger game.  You have to play for the duration of the whole game, and if you get a high score you are given a password to ring a telephone number to win MP3 players, digital cameras, handheld TV's, personal CD players and BT phones/answerphones etc.

It's only available to ITV Digital customers, cable companies don't get the software until 2002.

Blast! Shame I'm not going to get to see this. Oh well, the only Millionaire entertainment I've got is the interactive game by Eidos Interactive.

So it launches tonight! Although I can't get ITV2 I'm sure I'll get the chance to check it out soon on my mate's cable set.

BTW, we want screenshots of the service please! (for those who can't get ITV2).Very Happy

Ryan - you may be in for a wait I'm afraid - it's not on cable! It's only on DTT at present.

Absolutely brilliant. At last ITV Digital customers have something Sky customers haven't. Great fun and really well designed. Really sophisticated system too.

It's very clever how it locks you out, just before the contestant answers. It really is very well done and very fast! Well done ITV!

Sadly, I didn't get enough point to go through to the prize draw, but I'll keep trying! Smile

Do you have to pay to enter Millionaire Interactive?

Or is it a premium number to claim prizes...

If not, how do ITV ever make any money???

Yes, does make you wonder doesn't it.

ITV, in huge financial trouble, spend months + presumably a huge sum of money developing an interactive gameshow format, which they then transmit not on ITV1, but on ITV2, despite the fact they've done interactive adverts + features on ITV1 before, and then the only money they'll get it from people phoning to put in claims for prizes.

If Sky had done this there would be a phone call up front to enter the thing - is there any ITC ruling stopping ITV from doing this or is it just poor planning?

Don't you have to 'ring' (via the set top box) a special number to register your points if you have enough to claim your prize? Is this how they get the money?

(And I have to say, nice behind the scenes Pop Idol stuff on ITV2 wrapped around the ITV1 show - shows just how jokey Ant & Dec are just before going to air - great fun!)

Cheers, Asa
