Hi,

Quick question. I don't know who else has seen these episodes, but it seems alot less moodier and somewhat brighter. There is also a box full of money on the side where the chairs are.

Is these the pilot episodes?

Seen what episodes? The box of money was there from the start and lasted around a year when it got taken away. For what effect they were supposed to create, I'm not sure.

I was there to illustrate how big £1,000,000 in cash was. It was taken away after a couple of series because what would happen if the money when flying everywhere after the case was opened? An audience stamped perhaps.

Where did you get that from? My 14 Day TV Guide on my Top Up TV+ box thinks differently.

Oh I hate this new look millionaire. The music is vile it is just a punk-rocked up version of the original which wasn't much better if you ask me.

More like dance music than punk rock.

I think they took it away because they wanted a more minimalist set.

I remember when they had a metal box around the probably ugly beige LCD panels. Now that does look ugly.

I remember the case full of money in the early series, then suddenly they did away with that. Did the case contain genuine money though? Would Celador REALLY have put £1 million worth of genuine cash on display in the studio like that? Are you sure it wasn't dud money, just for show purposes (make believe)?

Ofcourse it wansnt real money and a million pounds would be a lot bigger. The money box stayed around till the end of US primtime version but is not seen on the daytime one, it was also on the aussie one but the set was much smaller as was podium. Austraila was I think about the 3rd Country to take Milllionaire however the top-prze was not won untill 2006 when it was on twice in the same month.

I read about it in Chris Tarrant: Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? My Story.

Tonight's WWTBAM was great again! The new music and atmospheric sounds and graphics have given the program a refreshing change! I know the changes are only slight - but it has made a big difference.

I think there was a bit too much talking after the 1st 2 questions with everyone tonight though. However, very good! Very Happy

I agree with you again, JJ. It's refreshing to hear a slightly more upbeat tune in the background. The brighter graphics are better IMO as well.
Anyone else agree with me when I say I prefer the celebrity edition of the show? It just has more appeal to me... Cool

Noticed that they were still having problems with the Ragu promo once. Same breakup as to what happened last week.

As you know, I hated this 'new-look' millionaire but it is starting to grow on me now. Yes I had the advert problem again yesterday. It sounded like a channel cutting transmission. I don't like the way Criss says it is a new look because when it is replayed in years to come it won't be new! Yes I like the celebrity version better to. If you listen carefully to the new background music you can hear it is just a 'modern' take of the old versions. I still don't like the titles or the title music though.

I wonder why Celador never really made any changes at all to the show in the last 9 years? Why did they let it run and run and not once make any tweaks to the main game/graphics at all? It seems strange to me...

Well it seems now that in most ITV regions (including STV) Millionaire is on on Tuesday 4th September at 8pm, as well as on the weekends before and after! Is this just a one off or will this be a pernament change to the Millionaire schedules?
