Since the revised format. We've had eleven episodes. The first seven featuring celebrities, then we had one nurses special, followed by one couples special and two regular episodes.

ITV's current plan as of late is to air the show on Tuesday nights when Uefa Champions League isn't on. While in 2008 the show will move back to Saturday nights. They have already recorded ten civillian episodes which have yet to air.

I think that's ruined the programme, the celebs and the mass recording, I know that's how they tend to do things now, but when it was recorded only a few days before it aired, it worked so much better in my opinion.

I quite liked the Tuesday episodes...makes the week a bit more refreshing - face it, anythings got to be better than Trinny and Susannah Undress The Nation!?!?!? Rolling Eyes

As somebody who doesn't watch the show, I don't really understand that statement, so would somebody explain how?

Wouldn't have said you'd have to watch the show to work an easy statement out.

The show used to be recorded a few days prior to transmission (that's when a programme goes out to the public Wink ) but now it can be anything from a few weeks to a few months.

Yes, I got that bit, but I mean how would it improve the show, as the fanoftv said?

Millionaire should return to its original format as a TV event, on every night for a fortnight, then vanishing for a few months. Whereas originally Millionaire was akin to reality TV in its drama, a regular timeslot has turned it into just another quiz show. The fact that they've had to mess with the format is testament to this.

Obviously the programme's lost some of its magic, but if it was gone for six months and then reappeared with a bang for two weeks only it could recapture the sense of event TV. This kind of scheduling would probably be slightly tiresome for ITV, but they manage with I'm a Celebrity, Britain's Got Talent, Soapstar Superstar etc.

I personally think that it would bring back the supense.
At the moment if anybody is going to win big, it will easily feature in the papers and media before hand.
You also you'd to have it work by if you phoned in one week, you had the chance to be on the programme either the following week, or in a fortnight rather than now when it's even got to the stage of having to cover up the date on the cheque as they don't even know when it's going to air.

I would personally like to see them try it live, the only problem with that of course is the fact that they wouldn't be able to give them as long as they wanted to answer the questions.

Saying that though, I've never been to a recording, so does anybody now how much (if anything) they edit out before they answer the questions, would it work if it were live?

And sorry for my confusing statement.

EDIT: As for the stripping of the schedule, didn't they try this again with Ant & Dec's Pokerface, but then the second series was moved to Saturday evenings.

It's the little things like topical intros from Mr Tarrant and linking the show to the day it's airing - though to be fair Chris Tarrant can be quite annoying when he does that, mentioning that it's Christmas Day every 30 seconds for example.

I think it would work fine on a Tuesday if left there - even if dropped every other week for the football.

It has completely lost it's Saturday slot in the last couple of years and found itself airing anytime from 5.30pm to 9.30pm - so it's much better having a permanent weeknight slot where it can try to regain it's audience, and as others said, it provides a break from the usual soap and drama which monopolises the weeknight schedules.

I quite liked the idea in the fantasy schedules of airing it on a sunday, especially to start ITV1's sunday night schedule and replace Emmerdale!
