A real shame indeed, only the other day I thought it was time for Frank Butcher to make a quick visit back to the square. Sadly that will never happen again Sad

In April and May 2007 the three television and music personalities, Mike Reid, Malcolm McLaren and Suzanne Shaw, took part in a reality television programme in Gardenstown, Banffshire, near Aberdeenshire in the North East of Scotland. Their aim was to become a part of the fishing village within the two weeks they were living in Gardenstown.

Ironically, although I knew about this show months ago, I hadn't realised it was being filmed almost on my doorstep until last night. If only I'd known, I'd have cycled up there and got Malcolm McLaren to sign my copy of "D'You Like Scratching?". By all accounts, McLaren really got up the villagers' noses, which leads me to suspect that Mike Reid may actually have won the show.

I remember his guest appearance in 'The Sooty Show' during the early 1990s (or late '80s) where he played hard man 'Bananas Briggs' in which he held Mathew up with a banana......

Mathew -
hang on a minute you can't do anything with that! That's a banana!
Mike -
Yeh! But it's a loaded banana!

THe scene ends with Mike Reid getting soaked by a fire extinguisher Laughing

A very sad loss - only 67 - I believe he had a lot more to offer as an actor - particularly in the british gangster genre.
