And what did happen to Jackie Hardgrave in the morning slot (9am - 1pm)? She just seemed to disappear and Joanna Gosling took over.

I reckon Ben Geohegan, Jonna Gosling, Carrie Gracie and Gavin Esler should complain. The solts:

  • 9am-1pm (4 hours)
  • 1pm-4pm (3 hours)
  • 4pm-7pm (3 hours)
  • 7pm-11pm (4 hours)

Wonder if they get paid the same? Smile

Also, is Gavin Esler a more 'senior' News24 presenter as he's the one that did one of the original News24 promos. (Just wondering)

I think the best slot is the 7-11pm slot with Gavin Esler and Carrie Gracie - they are by far the best presenters - all though she often looks as though she'll burst into tears in a few seconds!!

PS - did anyone notice two things on N24 this evening? at 16:16, just as we were coming out of the headline bed with the 'Du-dur-dum', we also got an on-screen sting?
Plus at about 16:32, did anyone see Matthew Amroilywala typing furiously on his keyboard - what was he doing? Amending the next story perhaps?

What about the overnight shift which is five hours long most nights and six hours long at weekends (saturday into sunday). also how come phillip hayton has to do all afternoon on saturdays (13.00 - 19.00)

I noticed Susan Osman, who normally presents BBC Points West from Bristol, doing a night shift the other week.

I wonder what the policy is, for pinching regional presenters for BBC News 24 shifts.

Susan was quite good. Not sure about Gwenan Edwards, though - she sends me to sleep Wink

Anyone else spotted any regional presenters cropping up at odd hours?

Yes, Heather McCarthy from BBC South Today and Mike Embley from BBC Newsroom South East.

Overnight is probably the hardest shift for a number of reasons. One it's a long shift, two it's in the middle of the night when your body wants to be asleep, and three the presenter is on their own which always makes it harder ... especially on Breaking News.

NickyS, do you think you could tell me what you think Geeta Guru Murthy's e-mail address would be at the BBC? Its a strange one for the simple formula:

firstname.surname@bbc.co.uk
