Certainly what CBBC staff were expecting before I left. It's quite possible they were comissioned till July with an option to extend.
I certainly know that CBBC wasn't expecting to make its own in house Saturday AM programme until September, hence a very quick turnaround for this 8 week only show...

It wouldn't suprise me if 'new' programmes are given a shorter run with the possibility of extending the run. I'm fairly sure that happenned with series 3 of Dick & Dom, as I'm sure it was originally only meant to run over the summer but went on for longer.
