Anybody on here like Midsomer Murders, Foyle's War and New Tricks. These are the best three crime drama series's in recent years and are my personal favourites. I also like Prime Suspect, A Touch of Frost and I also use to like Inspector Morse, Cracker and Taggart as well. I think Taggart went off when Mark McManus died.

As for Spooks, Waking the Dead, Messiah, Trial and Retribution, The Vice, Wire in the Blood, Strange etc, all of them are overrated, deplorably sick and require twisted gore and I don't like any of them. The majority of the British Public don't want to see gory details they just want a good well told story.

The reason for the success of Midsomer Murders which is returning in the autumn for Series 9, New Tricks, Foyles War, Prime Suspect, A Touch of Frost, Inspector Morse, Cracker and Taggart is because they all have formats that work and have had since the day they kicked off. How many of todays drama series's can get to Series 9, most of them are axed altogether after Series 2 and at the most Series 3. John Nettles has a winning formula with Midsomer and this is one programme that I can see running for 20 years.

I don't mean to be boring and I apologise if I've upset you. I will be posting lots of other things on here besides polls so you don't need to get annoyed with me. I might even post my website on here if it is allowed that is.

I love New Tricks! but the ABC slotted it on Sundays at 8.30pm, instead of Fridays at 8.30pm, where it use to be as part of ABC TV's Friday Night murder mysteries.

America does drama much better then we do. ITV has some good one-off / 2-parters, but i honestly can't think of one single British drama series that i enjoy.

Midsummer Murders i just can't get on with. Being someone who enjoyed Bergerac a lot, i just can't see John Nettles doing another Crime Drama.

I'd go for New Tricks out of that lot.

Like Ben, I'm not a Midsomer fan, but mainly because they just seem to be TOO far-fetched for my liking.

I like an element of truth built in.

I'd probably put Foyle as my number two.
