Anybody on here like Midsomer Murders, Foyle's War and New Tricks. These are the best three crime drama series's in recent years and are my personal favourites. I also like Prime Suspect, A Touch of Frost and I also use to like Inspector Morse, Cracker and Taggart as well. I think Taggart went off when Mark McManus died.
As for Spooks, Waking the Dead, Messiah, Trial and Retribution, The Vice, Wire in the Blood, Strange etc, all of them are overrated, deplorably sick and require twisted gore and I don't like any of them. The majority of the British Public don't want to see gory details they just want a good well told story.
The reason for the success of Midsomer Murders which is returning in the autumn for Series 9, New Tricks, Foyles War, Prime Suspect, A Touch of Frost, Inspector Morse, Cracker and Taggart is because they all have formats that work and have had since the day they kicked off. How many of todays drama series's can get to Series 9, most of them are axed altogether after Series 2 and at the most Series 3. John Nettles has a winning formula with Midsomer and this is one programme that I can see running for 20 years.
