I think it's the top story on most news bulletins. It certainly was on Five News.

Nice behind the scenes of studio, in the report! Good to see the green background again - and behind the actual set Razz

From that report, he's obviously popular, when he walked into ITV and loads of people were cheering and whooping!

could this actually mean the return of the old traditional ITV news slots...

ITV News at 530 (although it was originally 540 but in todays TV world of programmes starting at 00 and 30 - except for Saturdays!!!)

I highly doubt it. An evening news bulletin at 540 for a major channel is (in my opinion) for a time long gone. Many more poeple work later these days and that kind of early evening news programme just doesn't cut it any more. Just look at what ITV schedule in that slot nowadays!

It's even (with a pic) on the ITV homepage - the company must see light at the end of the tunnel!

A 10 oclock news wud also be unlikely. other than the mentioned competetion from the bbc most of itv's programs for the 9oclock timeslot last for 90mins.

Shaps did mention that he vision is to reduce the amount of programmes/drama's that last 90 minutes and would bring in more innovative programming. Although with a look at the Atutumn shedule (with retrospect hindsight) there were still far too many 90 minute programmes (including IAC-GMOOH!)

I wonder if Michael Grade actually knew who Lucy Owen was on the ITV Lunchtime News?

Some grabs from the report.

Yes, but it's widely known that ITV have had problems filling 90 minute drama slots. They do far better for 60 minutes. That decision will be interesting.

The BBC should accept the 2.5% licence fee, cancel Manchester

They're not going to do that, according to Jana Bennett in BroadcastNow Headlines. A pointless move IMHO.
