Michael comes over as very modest too. Caught a bit of Thursday morning's programme - earlier they had apparently been discussing the differences between older and younger siblings (and I presume Michael had made a comment about being an older sibling who didn't take risks) and were responding to some viewer emails.
One said something along the lines of: 'Michael's wrong to say he doesn't take risks. Presenting live news programmes is something of a risk.'
To which his reply was along the lines of: 'Oh I don't know. It's only reading from a screen.'

I was very annoyed at Michael criticising Newcastle on Thursday, calling it 'behind the times' when someone from Newcastle called in to say they didn't like the idea of Shop 24 (automated shopping from a vending machine in Darlington). How dare he, when Newcastle has made great progress in modernisation, both technologicaly, culturaly and socialy. As usual the Evening Chronicle was full of complaints about it too.

Did anyone see the end of the other Michael (Michael Peschardt)'s last Breakfast this morning - it was really sad, Julia said it had been a pleasure to work with him and she was sorry he was going back to Sydney. I think I agree with her, especially when it means we have to have Dermot back tomorrow morning.

Watch out everyone! If the Radio Times is to be believed then tomorrow we will see the reuniting of the BBC's greatest ever newsreader pairing - Bill Turnbull and Sian Williams are due to be presenting together for the first time since July! Wahey, I can't wait!

I agree..............they presented the programme on my birthday and it just made it a nice warm morning...............theyre should be permanently reserved seats in the BBC Bunker for Turnbull and Williams, as well as some leg room too......

They presented the programme on my birthday too, and it was the best possible start to the day! They are like an old married couple, and far better than Dermot and Natasha.

It's weird actually - when they do the programme the journalism seems better, heavier and more incisive if you like. But at the same time the show seems friendlier, more approachable and contains a lot more humour. It is a pair of very clever and talented presenters indeed that can pull that off.

(And just to confirm, I am not Mr Turnbull or Ms Williams!)

The problem with Breakfast is Murnaghan and Botfield - get rid of those 2 fully and the whole programme would be a lot nicer.

Replace Botfield with Moira, and Dermot with Buerk. Very Happy

Botfield should go back to London - her talents are better there...

Its not as warm as it used to be - murnaghan appears to be telling a particular joke from an autocue - its very dull and boring. i don't really like kaplinsky that much and that orange tan.

Hey hey hey, we'll have less. Jules is a great person and a fantastic professional. I worked with her briefly when she was doing The Morning Show from Leeds and have seen her once or twice since she came back to London.

Jules is OK, works pretty well with Bill when Sian is on holiday.

It would be great to have Buerk on permanently, but sadly I don't think it's going to happen.

Dermot and Natasha should be replaced by Bill and Sian, Michael Peschardt should present at weekends with Natasha. So basically:

Monday - Thursday: Bill Turnbull & Sian Williams
Friday - Sunday: Michael Peschardt and Natasha Kaplinsky

Jules could fill in for the ladies when they are on holiday, while I've always thought that Gavin Esler would be a good choice to fill in for the guys when they are away.

In all seriousness though, why don't the beeb admit their mistake with Dermot & Natasha and move Bill & Sian to the main job instead? To be honest I don't understand why they didn't replace Jeremy & Sophie as main presenters when they left.

Perhaps this is an example of the BBC relying on "famous" or "glamorous" figures at any cost, regardless of who would actually be the best people for the job.

No doubt she is a fantastic person; and she was a really good presenter on LDN, and she is a really good reporter on location; but I dont think sitting on a sofa and being overly serious is her thing!

I must say, I think Sian & Dermot work well together and when Bill & Natasha fronted the show together, a few weeks ago, they seemed to gel.

Overall, I do prefer Sian Williams to Natasha Kaplinski. I think Bill Williams has a great sense of humour, but Dermot is a professional Presenter and Journalist, too. He worked for ITN for many years.

It was good to see Michael Buerk on the show, despite his remarks on two of the Northern Cities, Manchester & Newcastle.

I agree with the earlier post, it would be good to see Moira Stuart presenting the main slot. Rob Bonnet is also good and it is good to see him presenting the main programme which he does occasionally.

Overall, Breakfast is the best News Magazine in the mornings. It is presented in a Professional and Light-Hearted way, they have a laugh and are serious too.

Look at some of the others shows, GMTV is a load of rubbish and RI:SE should have never been risen.
