Michael is my favourite news presenter - it's great to see him on Brekky. He is a legend that commands respect from across the industry, regardless of which organisation you work for.
I'm very surprised that he isn't Sir Michael Buerk by now. It is an honour which is long overdue for him.
I think that Michael and
BIG MOIRA
should have been on as a pair and that Natasha thing should have been on the island - then it could have been a CLASSIER Breakfast than normal.

Bloody good point Hymagumba, Kaplinsky hasn't got at least one brain cell - Moria and Michael all the way! (well not like that )
Kaplinsky is very classy thank you! She may not be very good at reading the news (!) but classy is her middle name. I thought Buerk was brilliant this morning (far better than Dermot), it would be nice if it could be a regular thing.
In fact, here are my ideas for who should present Breakfast:
Monday-Wednesday: Michael Buerk & Sian Williams
Thursday-Sunday: Bill Turnbull & Natasha Kaplinsky (Natasha needs Bill - he is the only presenter who can balance her newsreading inability)
Dermot should move to presenting the 6:00 News, Huw could go to the 1 so George could move to the 10. Far better all round I say.
The Buerk-meister proves what it is to be a proper *presenter* as opposed to a newsreader. He really does "present" the information that he and Natasha are giving.
BTW - is it me or has Michael seemed like he's had an almost permanent cold recently??
I agree with that - Michael is a proper "presenter", presenting the news and information with his own personality. Bill does the same - it is what marks out a good presenter from a mediocre one. Dermot, on the other hand, just reads the news.
Yes, Mike's been good - I hope it's him and Sian tomorrow two people who talk to you and not at you - and there's a big difference...
Absolutely. Michael is one of only a handful of broadcasters who have mastered the skill of talking to viewers.
He sits on the sofa, taking occasional sips of coffee even while he's in shot (something the other presenters are scared even to do!). He's having a cosy chat with the viewers, which I think is excellent.
I hope Michael on Brekky becomes a common occurance. He is just the tonic the programme needs.
