BREAKING NEWS: c@t starts a new topic! Wink

On a more festive note, I suppose we'll get the really massive Christmas on Midlands Today again! It has presents under it and everything, they should have let Nick Owen open them on a special programme on Christmas Eve/Day. Smile

I hope the Carlton Christmas idents get another outing this year as well, as I think they are really good! Lets also hope the GMG stations make some kind of effort this year as well, don't want any Scrooges now!

Speaking of Christmas, they started putting the town Christmas decorations up in North Street today!  WHY!? It's October!! Very Happy

Probably because that one man and a van, has to get around the whole of your town, plus the others in your council area, before December 1st!

PS: Are you defianally sure that they are Christmas decs by the way? I notice that in Bradford they have currently got decorations up for another festival.

Last year in the North...

Look North had a very nice Xmas tree in the background, Plus the Leeds City decs (which are some of the best in the North), can be seen out of the 'window'

As you will know, don't get me started on YTV. They didn't use any, even though they could have just used the previous years rather than none.

There was a tree in the 'Tonight' studio though

There was a small attempt by ITV last year...

ITN had snow falling on the blue and white ITN Production slide, but only on Christmas Day.

I know! I hardly ever start topics in here, I always worry about them being a complete failure or it's usually the case that someone starts the thread before me. Also, I try to make an effort to integrate my posts into other threads, instead of creating a new thread about a subject that's been started elsewhere, unlike certain others around here.

I think I'm right in saying CNN have a Christmas set of music, will have to see if I can get hold of that.

I find that as well, either someone has started a thread on something that has 'just' happened or I can find a tenuous link somewhere and stick it in another thread. Wink

I'd like to hear that CNN christmas music Chesh, I think most Christmas things done by broadcasters are normally pretty good. Once they make the effort, they enjoy it really.

I just see Christmas as an excuse for those 'close to me' to bleed me dry, so I have no money at all!

More and more christmas things are going to be put up over the next few weeks (its expected). They usually start selling Easter Eggs in January. When it comes down to christmas food like mince pies i like it tobe sold early because i love them. I spotted some in ASDA last week i had to buy some Razz:, it was too tempting.

Haha!

Nah, I do like Christmas, its a wonderful time of the year! Its just a shame its become so commercial and so many people have forgotten the true meaning of Christmas.

Last time Sky had not one but two trees with lots of lights and decorations, as well as adapted idents to say 'Merry Christmas' etc. I didn't notice the the Beeb do anything last time! I was expecting a lovely big tree behind the News 24 presenters, and perhaps Mr Edwards in a party hat, but not a thing. Now, all you BBC bods reading this forum, you listen to me, this time put up a bloody big tree and make the place look happy.

Surely the BBC couldnt have a christmas tree on BBC News 24 when through the night BBC World would see it and many people around the world dont celebrate christmas or do it in a different way?

correct - you win the prize.
same reason as you never see poppies on the overnight service as it means nothing to people around the world!

Couldnt it be on during the day, and wheeled off at night.

And what would happen to BBC National News studio ?
