At least you got an appology and had someone to get it from. Although I know that this problem was a transmitter failure I'm not sure we'd get anything if there was some other kind of technical fault, doubt we would even get a decent caption explaining it.

Aren't Channel line fed via Meridian now rather than off-air?

Very strange fault, the tx suite must have been online for DSat to still be working (unless another region was patched in at ntl's end) but if it was the tx site then Channel shouldn't have been affected now they're not off-air fed. In fact wasn't there a reserve system to take Westcountry(?) instead of Meridian if it was providing a better signal?

Going off a bit - tomorrow's 12.30 Sunday programme '10 Years' should be interesting - well I hope it will!
I hope they show bits of when Meridian were launced

Not 100% sure how Channel receive ITV (Meridian) but they were definatley having problems today.

I must admit that the whole Channel (Channel that is) has been pretty poor with linking in and out of the Meridian broadcast. Had the start of Meridian weather twice today before someone at Channel wake up! Must be training !

It does depend if the transmitter that was off air was the same one that provides the feed to Jersey.

If it is line fed the line might originate from or pass through the transmitter that was off-air

In these days of digital satellite they could take any region.

I think I know who it was. Does anyone remember an out take on "It'll Be Alright On The Night", when a Meridian reporter approached an elderly couple and said "Hi, I'm from Meridian, I was wondering..."

And the wife of the couple interrupted: "Meridian? Oh no thank you! We don't like you're programmes, we think they're absolutely disgusting."
