ITV has confirmed that it plans to dispose of Men & Motors.

The motoring-focused channel, which is available on Sky and digital cable, has been classed as a non-core asset by ITV plc and will be sold along with other resources including Screenvision US and MUTV.

Doesn't mean it's going to close though, it may well continue with other owners, in fact I'd think it's very likely to

I thought Sky owned MUTV

Not really a surprise.

They already have ITV4 for the mens' stuff.

I reckon it'll merge with Nuts TV....*ahem*

This Is Granada
Men & Motors is a very popular brand name! If someone company was interested in launching a channel aimed at men, it maybe should buy Men and Motors!

Or maybe Virgin should buy it to run along sine Bravo??

I think there is still a clause that Sky get some money if the channel closes down, that's why they've kept it running alongside ITV4 for so long isn't it?

Does anyone know any ratings for Men and Motors?
I can't imagine the figures would be huge - is it really worth the airtime it's on?

As mentioned before in this thread, with Nuts TV and ITV4 (which both have well known names behind them), is there really a place in the market for it any more?

I can see it being bought up by Virgin and rebranded as either Bravo 3 or Virgin 2. The channel is viable as a going concern, much more so than that silly little Nuts TV channel anyway Laughing

So this will be the last of the Granada Sky Broadcasting channels that launched 11 years ago to close then.

Sky own a third
Man Utd own a third
ITV own a third (this was originally owned by Granada)

I'd expect that the other 2 owners would buy out ITV's share so they owned a half each

Yep, this was agreed when Granada Sky Broadcasting folded in 2004, any money from the sale of M&M would mean that Sky would recieve 50% or so of it. As ITV aren't interested in it anymore, ITV would get half, Sky would get half.

My money would either that Five or Virgin would be the most likliest buyers for M&M.

M&M still peaks around 100,000 viewers, but this is nothing compared to it's tenure on Freeview, when it would get about 300-500,000 on a good week. It's top rated programme at the moment seems to be On The Buses .....
