TISWAS is one of my all time favourite programmes, I remember Chris Tarrant , Sally James, Lenny Henry. Also I remember Saddam Hussain and his dog Spit, plus I can recall Arthur Scargill taking part in the Bucket of water song!
I remember one episode of Tiswas when they started with the wrong ident and when thorough all the idents before they came to ATV. I must have be an ident fan early on LOL!
Great programme. Of course other stars of Tiswas included Sylvester McCoy, Frank (two boiled eggs) Carson and Jim Davidson.
Ahem. Anyway - I always used to love the Lenny Henry section in which he pretended to be Trevor McDonald, but using "Trevor McDonut". Of course, the famous scene in which Sir Trev actually walks into the studio seeing Lenny Henry as "Trevor McDonut" was classic!
There is a new site, at Tiswas Online for anyone who doesnt know. It was featured on a regional news programme tonight. It also has the old Central and ATV logos.
Anyone remember Gordon Astley from Tiswas? He's my mum's cousin.
Only vaguely, as I've never seen any repeated clips! (I assume some from his era still exist!)
Mind you, most of us(well me at least!) remember his work at BBC Local Radio in the Midlands, but I don't remember much about his work at Beacon though! (My main listening era for Beacon was 92 to 97 !)
Plus I did see him a few years back at the final Sandwell Show that BBC Birmingham appeared at, complete with panama hat !
