Hi all. I was wondering, do you think the BBC needs a re-brand? ITV have done it and, in my opinion it has made me much more interested in their programming.

I might be wrong, though. What do you think? Should they re-brand?

Thanks! Very Happy

No.

The logo itself is 16 years old and is still as fresh as when it appeared in 1997. It's a simple, global and recognisable brand. As I've pointed out in previous threads, it's the packaging that makes the logo come alive. Channel 4's logo is in the same position as the BBC, its 31 years old and look how its been adapted for 2010's. ITV is a different situation.

You don't see a strong brand like NBC, CBS or FOX changing their logo every 10 minutes.

The BBC as a brand is fine (on-screen, I mean, not so much in the papers) but as I've mentioned before, BBC One is starting to look a bit stale in comparison to ITV which has been looking quite fresh over the last week. BBC Two is just a mess and pretty much speaks for itself. The BBC logo doesn't need to be touched.

I do see where you guys are coming from. The logo isn't the worst logo in the world, but they may need to rebrand BBC One and Two. They are starting to look a bit stale now, and the 'Love 2013' wasn't really needed. It just made BBC One look less fresh.

I may come across as weird for saying this, but the BBC One from 1997 - 2002 was much more interesting. Even the breakdown tunes were fun...well, not all of them, but a few. There was one that was REALLY boring.

Also, BBC Two's breakdown music was fun (only some). I danced to a lot of them. Very Happy

I think the BBC corporate logo is perfectly fine as it is but BBC One and Two could do with a refresh this year. Maybe BBC Four too.

The corporate logo is still good to go for another 5 years at least. BBC One's idents are looking a bit tired now and BBC Two's have been stale for a while. I suspect they will rebrand when BBC Two HD launches, and BBC One in the Autumn.

To be honest, all of the BBC TV channels could do with a new look. One last changed (completely, not just adding new idents to the set) in 2006, Two in 2007, Three in 2008, Four in 2005, News Channel in 2008 (and we already know that one's due to change soon), CBBC in 2007, and Cbeebies never (launched in 2002).

The corporate logo is fine but everything else (TV wise anyway) is in need of a refresh, and for the first time since 1997 really the BBC is in a position where it's just reached the point where it makes sense to refresh everything together.

The BBC logo is fine as it is. However the BBC One and BBC Two pres are in need of a rebrand.

I liked ITV's idea of having a balanced colour scheme. The colour scheme reflects the type of programme being broadcast and the time of day/night.

Maybe BBC should do that...
