I must admit, I didn't judge it fairly on first impression when I first heard about this format coming to ITV.
But I did actually find myself playing along at home as the first episode progressed. It may not have the razzle dazzle of Strictly or even Stars in Their Eyes, but I wouldn't call it trashy, which a lot of people on social media have already branded it that way. It's better than and more original than other failed Saturday night formats that have been hurled around in the last several years.
In terms of production values, the costumes were well made in my opinion. It's also nice to see a show where the judging panel don't have the centre of attention for once. Plus there is no sob story dribble from the contestants - it's all a bit of fun!
My critique is that it's time slot of 90 minutes is too long for this kind of format, 45 to 60 minutes would suit it better in my opinion. Plus, it is a laugh when the panel suggest names like Emilia Clarke or Sir Ian McKellen, when we all very well know that they would never sign up to something like this! 😆
All in all, I hope that things pick up in terms of figures and reputation.
Another clue for the Fox. The east end was where the Big Breakfast was filmed and where Denise Van Outen started. I think canals were seen - the big breakfast was by a canal. The video's contain so many unnoticed visual clues
I quite like it, certainly something a little fresher for a Saturday night.
It drags a little in places so is better to watch on catchup where you can skip the audience voting bit (and ads, obviously). It’ll be interesting to see if it holds an audience for the rest of the series.
Very nice to see someone not on the usual rosta too. Joel is presenting it pretty straight, remembering he’s a presenter first rather than just a comedian. A good reminder to ITV that they can launch a successful format with someone who isn’t necessarily a well-known ITV face (although most will recognise him from I’m a Celeb)

You've hit the nail on the head, Asa. The costumes are very well made too.
And as you've said, it is definitely a breath of fresh air for a Saturday night on ITV, then again I never thought I would be watching a programme where I can cheer on a singing chameleon and a fox.
