I think octopus is Courtney Act, I’m surprised the judges didn’t pick up on the Drag Race reference in the VT.

The judges miss obvious clues - butterfly's wedding one.
Courtney has been suggested but when she has sung before she has never sung with that voice before. Would be an interesting reveal.

How, in TV, does this secret thing work. Especially with a live audience.

Lots of NDAs? Have ITV gone legal?!

I can’t see how they’ve managed it and strictly results are leaked every single week!?

Can only assume the reveals have been done without an audience.

Yes I think it was on the ticket applications that only a select audience would see the reveals. I assume only the production staff?

From BBC News:
Quote:
It's difficult to recall a studio audience so frustrated by a TV show recording.

Not because those present at a September taping of The Masked Singer didn't enjoy the show. Far from it - most cheered, laughed and evidently thought it was great entertainment.

But the audience (which BBC News was a part of) sat through several hours of recording and reshoots, only to be told just before the end that they all had to leave as producers filmed the crucial moment where the evicted celebrity was unmasked.

Only a select few members of the public were allowed to stay.

In an age of social media spoilers, keeping the studio audience in the dark is one of several measures ITV has taken to keep the identities of its masked celebrities under wraps.

Audience members had to sign NDAs (non-disclosure agreements) on their way into the taping, which took place at a remote airfield away from the press and public.

But the efforts to avoid word getting out could be worth it for the viewing figures ITV will be hoping it brings in.

Well, that's different from the original South Korean version where each revelation is filmed in front of full studio audiences.

In an interesting contrast, the German version had all competitions, including the revelations, broadcast live.

Am I the only person who thinks that this is extremely clever on ITV's part?

Really liking the show so far, the first two episodes have been a blast! (Plus, I've still got the theme song in my head aaaa)

I can really see this show going far.

Seeing Ken Jeong looking like his mind has been completely blown finding out
Patsy Palmer
was behind the first mask was so staged, when we all know that he was really asking himself "who the hell is that?".

The audience reaction shots when the singer is revealed are clearly staged (as the audience isn't there for that part), but they could have at least tried to make it look genuine. Almost as bad as the AGT reaction guy who was turned into a meme over it.

I predict the audience will die off for this quite quickly.

Ratings have held pretty well in the states.

I wonder why they have an American as a judge when it's obvious he's not going to have heard of most of the sort of people who'd do a show like this. Yes, I don't think there's a chance in hell he'd know who
Patsy Palmer
is!

Admittedly, if a couple of the rumoured people are true like
Kelis and Cee-Lo Green
then he'll probably have heard of them, but I somehow doubt he's much up to speed on British soaps and reality TV stars.

And I can't see Ken Jeong as having heard of either of those, even if he does inevitably feign suprise at the reveal if it is them.

He won't have heard of any of them, we've seen the calibre of star they've had.

It's quite clever as the panel can predict big names and build up audience expectations without them having to pay for big names

However I suspect one of them will be a proper professional singer

Clever? Or deceptive?

On the promos for it they were teasing David Beckham and other insane names as if they would compete on some random singing contest.

It’s a good idea in theory... but cue disappointment at the end when it turns out that all the people are random soapstars is sports personalities. Though of course the guesswork will keep viewers hooked throughout the series. So for ITV I’m sure they won’t be complaining.

I'm more inclined to believe that Ken has been briefed who everyone is in advance.

In any case, since he's also on the US version, he knows the format.
