I just find him to American for the UK version. I totally appreciate I could be alone in that view. But the Sharon and Kelly are so odd & also so British that they fit the UK version perfectly imo.

Sharon Osbourne is too divisive in my view. Some people love her some people hate her. You could probably say that about all the judges but I think she’s the wrong personality for this format, she was quite reined in this week luckily. But you could just imagine someone she doesn’t like being suggested as being behind one of the masks and her starting to slag them off.
Although I have had my doubts about Ken taking off with the British public, personally I think he works well.
More than anything I just don't see the point of an American judge who isn't likely to be familar with many of the sort of celebrities that would do a show like this. I very much doubt he knew who Patsy Palmer or Teddy Sherringham were even though he acted like he did. And funnily enough when the reveal was a celebrity he likely did know, Kelis, he wasn't there!
I think he does follow British sport- his guesses for the Tree of Alan Shearer and Peter Shilton were quite reasonable.
I think the names they’ve got have been OK- Patsy Palmer is quite a good signing (Ken may know her as a DJ), Alan Johnson was a huge signing for people of a certain age (was very pleasantly surprised to see him on there), Justin Hawkins- well, the Darkness were massive in the mid-00s, Teddy Sheringham was a great player, and is an absolutely lovely gent, Kelis I was very surprised by; I thought she seemed too big a name- very glad she did it though (even if she was out too early).
And tonight’s reveals- I’d completely forgotten about Skunk Anansie before Skin’s reveal; that brought memories flooding back. Skin’s teeth are still as gorgeous and white as ever.
And then Jake Shears, also a massive signing! Though I don’t know what the Glee reference was about- even my sister didn’t know and she’s a huge Glee fan (even though she’s 66; I just find that hilarious for some reason). Did any of his writing works appear in Glee?
I do wonder if Joel has known who everyone is when the mask has come off. Presumably either he's prompted in his ear at the appropriate moment and/or they dub on his announcement of the name afterwards

I think that is largely the point of him being there.
Is great that so far everyone is someone who hasn't to my knowledge been on reality TV before. Think of the rest a couple have done Strictly/Dancing with the Stars and two or three been talent show judges, but on the whole the show hasn't relied on the reality show merry go round.
