The Darkness are hardly an unknown band , you'd have to of been living in a cave in the mid 00s not to of heard of them or their music. I believe in a thing called love was a huge hit in 2003 and they dominated the Brit awards in 2004.
Todays 50-60 year olds were only in their 30s back in the 00s , still very much on the ball back then .
I guess for series 2 we need to fill it with 60s and 70s celebs to keep BM11 and his parents happy. Anyone got Engelbert Huperdinck, Cliff Richard and Lulu's phone numbers?
I'm suprised he hasn't asked for ITV to be closed down like he does with the BBC, with them filling it with all these "modern" people and ignorning his parents lack of knowledge of anyone after 1985.

Lulu is the type of token oldie who might appear in a future series.
But none of the names are people that only the 50+ would know more than other age groups.
A TV broadcaster would love to have 16-34 tune into their programmes, it's a gold mine for advertisers, especially in the age of streaming. 50+ doesn't sell as well. It makes sense to have a variety of celebrities in the show from all age ranges and generations.
It's not rocket science. Your making this more of an issue than it actually is - the tweets on twitter aren't exactly moaning about this, more for the cringeworthy but can't stop watching factor of the show.
To be honest insular over 50's are not probably going to found on twitter.
Would be interesting to see the demos for both Masked Singer and The Greatest Dancer. The 16-34s may get a show trending but it's the over 50s which really push up the total viewing figures so I'd be inclined to think the older audience is opting for The Masked Singer over the Greatest Dancer.
And although we're only three shows in think it is a certainty for a recommission - the only question is when it'll air. By rights it should take The X Factor slot in the autumn, soit could air first from late August in the slot BGT Champions had ahead of a shortened X Factor. I'd guess though keeping it till January makes more sense, then shifting it to autumn from 2021, though you would think there is a limited lifespan on this.

Late August would avoid the Strictly clash but mean I'd miss the first two weeks so I hope personally not.
Ratings and advertising revenue are higher in October than August.

Through the Voice is down - through is it because or in-spite of it being increasingly targeted at older audiences.
There is no long game with The Voice - it's about the auditions and that's about it. Was a bit of a joke seeing Tom Jones pitch to a contestant last night about going to him because he'd bring out a versatile side to her and show off other areas of her talent, yet when they only have two live shows they just don't have the opportunity to do that at all.
Talking of live shows I think we're seeing The Masked Singer is a show which actually benefits from being pre-recorded. I just think it would be so much harder to keep the secrets if it aired live in a weekly slot.
