Nightingale quits holiday show
'Presenter Mary Nightingale is to leave the ITV holiday programme Wish You Were Here...? to spend more time with her family and friends.
The 37-year-old, who currently reads ITV news bulletins, said she was leaving the show with regret but felt it was time to give her 'well-travelled suitcase a break'.
Nightingale joined the show two years ago having presented ITV's London Tonight news programme and appearing on BBC's Holiday.
She is currently filming a new six-part series for Carlton TV called Find Your Family.
Announcing her decision today, Nightingale said: 'It is with enormous regret that I have decided to leave Wish You Were Here...? after two very happy years as its presenter.
'Pearson TV and ITV were kind enough to offer me a very substantial deal to stay on for another series, but it is with great sadness I have declined their offer.
'It was always my intention to do two years on this wonderful programme and now it is time for me to move on to do other things.
'I send my best wishes to whoever takes over as presenter. It is a fabulous job, one of the best in TV, and whoever gets it is a very lucky person.'
She added: 'I've now reached a stage in my life where I would like to give my well-travelled suitcase a break and see more of my home, husband, family and friends.'
Nightingale has previously worked on shows including the Really Good Food Show and Aircraft Emergency.'
