I need to find info on the net about what different colours represent, e.g. red - rommance. Ive tried google-ing it but am not getting much luck out of it.

A good place to start is with what you think the colours mean.

For example. Red to me means Violence, In your face. Or Romance - depending on how you use it.

Blue, Cool, sophisticated.

Yellow, Bright, Bold, Summer Holidays.

Depends on what shades and what colours your mixing them with that creates the overall mood.

If you think yourself what you feel about these colours it's generally going to be correct.

I do seem to remember something about food companies using colours you wouldn't associate with that food to make you remember it. For example, Walkers' salt and vinegar should be BLUE and Cheese & onion should be green - but they're not! Ahaaaa! Also, Cadbury's purple packaging has been found very good at being associated with chocolate...

but why should salt and vinegar be blue? Shouldn't cheese and onion be yellow like cheese?

I remember that banks used to use blue, as it represented something strong and reliable. However, they started using red, as it's warm and approachable. The same can be applied for television news.

A mate of mine works in confectionary packaging design and marketing. He once spent several hours giving me the history of the Mars bar wrapper. Got any specific questions you want me to put to him?

Whilst this comment will probably leave me open to being described as just a little cantankerous, what the <EXPLETIVE DELETED> HELL has this thread got to do with television presentation?

Well Walkers had cheese flavour crisps whose packet was yellow, but they havent made them in years. If they never made them, then the cheese and onion packet probably would have been yellow
