The loss of human life is always tragic, but I have no sympathy except of course for his family and close friends left to deal with the carnage he has left behind. The simple fact is that he was little more than a coke snorting junkie with total disregard for the laws of the this country. Add to this mix his job as a childrens TV presenter, someone who should be a role model. God forbid if this is the kind of person children and indeed adults look up to as a role model then we are sure in trouble.

Well said.
Just because someone dies doesn't mean to say you can't express a negative opinion about them.
And don't forget the feelings of the person who found him after being strung up for six days - not nice at all.

It's very funny how people react when they find out that even the slightest of stars have been caught taking cocaine. In reality, most celebrities are at it.

I'll not say her name but I'll never forget walking into the mens toilet at Heaven to find a certain very famous female star snorting a line, before apologising and asking if I wanted some.

Then there's the former darling of Saturday night primetime who's partial to a bit of the white stuff.

And as for her male counterpart, well, the less said about him the better.

Not that it makes it any more right, of course, but we shouldnt judge so harshly. It's very easy to get taken in by it and develop a habit. Just as some feel they cant enjoy a good night out without a drink, many have got to that next stage whereby its no fun without some substance or other.

Indeed and the tabloid reporters who write about celebrities 'drug shame' and moralise about illegal drugs are also shoving stuff up their noses.

Not just celebs though, loads of people like to powder their noses these days. I read somewhere once that about 80% of used £10 & £20 notes that pass through our hands will have traces of cocaine on them. I probably read that in the sun, so not sure how truth is in that.

I can't wait to see how this forum reacts if his suicide note is made public.

It does seem a shame that in talking about the rights/wrongs of his private life, we seem to have moved away from talking about his talents as a presenter (this is a forum for discussing tv presentation some might argue Wink )

The morals of surrounding his demise aside, onscreen I thought he was charismatic and very talented presenter. I always thought he was engaging, funny and a joy to watch-- I suspect many kids felt the same.

Whether you feel empathy for him or not, it remains that we now have a noticeable void in CBBC's talent; so at least in a professional sense he will missed from CBBC I feel. His colleagues spoke very highly of him at least.

The same sort of thing is often said about dollar bills in the US - though it is also suggested that traces are transferred as notes are held together in ATMs and in wallets etc. - it doesn't mean 80% of notes have been directly exposed to drugs, it can be an exponential transfer thing (as the detection of drug residue can be very sensitive).
