Kind of reminds me of the accident involving Michael Lush... in fact that has been referred to in some reports on this incident. Only difference is that Time Team will not be axed after this.

I'm not sure why some papers have alluded to the Michael Lush incident in reports of this.

Tragic as this accident is, it was an activity he undertook on a regular basis as a hobby, and this could have happened at any time. The fact that a Time Team researcher had located the group and booked to film one of their recreations is entirely superfluous. It's nice to note that although the event has obviously been dropped from the programme, there will be a dedication or mention at the end.

Michael Lush unfortunately died in an accident doing a stunt he would not have otherwise been taking part in had it not been for the programme. In that case you could argue that the producers were culpable.

It makes for good copy in some tabloids though to attempt to tie the two together.

It gives the Daily Hate Mail another excuse to bash the liberal C4. And it'll probably claim that C4 also have links to the BBC and that the license fee should be scrapped, and that the incident was cold-blooded murder by some Polish immigrants.

To be fair, the Daily Mail is the most important part of my life too.
