So what did people think of this? I have to admit I didn't see all of it so I don't know what the other songs were like.

Daz's song seems ok - reminds me of the Black Eyed Peas, Where is the Love. Seemed a bit odd having the schoolchildren there. It was a bit like a builder had walked into a girls classroom. Confused

Anyway, its another style -will be interesting to see if RnB has the same effect in the rest of Europe.

It woudn't matter if ABBA themselves stood on stage and performed the UK Eurovision entry, it's doubtful the UK will ever win the competition again owing to the block voting in Eastern Europe and the Balkans.

Agreed. These sorts o competitions have become far more political in recent years - take Gemeni (sp?) for example, in the year after Britain entered Iraq.

You can't blame that on politics no matter how hard you try. Chantelle's first rendition of "I Want It Right Now" was more in tune than Jemini were on the night.

Daz. Bloomin. Sampson.

Dear God, no.

Even if it does turn out to have some quirky value which might appeal, I can;t think of a worse song to send. Rolling Eyes

I am an absolutely massive Eurovision fan, and I think this is the best chance the UK have in years.

Most ESC fans will tell you that Eurovision is no longer about the song, just the performace (for example Sertab in 2003, Ruslana in 2004). This song reminds me of Israel's entry in 2003, and I think it does have a decent chance. Eurovision watchers love kitsch like this, and I'm sure the ladies won't harm!

A slight problem though is due to Eurovision rules, the female 'dancers' will have to sing the female backing part (unlike today, where it was obviously mimed). Could be a bit tricky.

But this isn't kitsch. It's crap rap.

I know, but since when has Eurovision been about quality? Wink I don't really like the song, but I can see how some people might like it.

For me the problem remains that the BBC do not invest enough time and energy into the contest. Take SVT in Sweden, they spend all year building towards Eurovision, and always manage to get the country's biggest stars to perform in the Melodifestivalen. They always manage to produce 3/4 potential winners each year. My problem is that in recent years the BBC seem to pick singers first and then it is up to them to find a decent track. The idea that this is a song contest seems to have went out the window.

Kitsch and quality can belong together!! And I still believe that the winners of the Contest are quality songs. The cream always rises to the top.

Actually I think there's some rule that disqualifies any top UK act to perform at Eurovision because we'd win all the time, hence why we get the bottom of the barrel of unknowns or celeb washups performing. Cool

It's not a very Eurovision song and I don't know how other countries will approve.

It's mostly about politics anyway...
