RTÉ's announced a major rebrand of its children's output today. "The Den" name is being killed off after 25 years on air (although the 3pm-6pm programme everyone knew as The Den is long gone and what remained for the past few years was essentially only the name). Anyway, in a move not unlike that of the BBC a few years back, in come new brands RTÉjr for preschoolers and TRTÉ (complete with CBBC lookalike logo) for older kids. The DAB station RTÉ Junior is also being rebranded RTÉ Junior.

Press release at http://www.rte.ie/about/pressreleases/2010/0913/youngpeopleslaunch13092010.html

And the logo (no really, it doesn't look anything like the CBBC logo at, no, not at all Wink ) is at http://www.rte.ie/trte .

D'oh! Its what I meant of course. (On a radio station it means less, since RTÉ Junior and RTÉjr are pronounced the exact same! And it means even less in a country where DAB has very, very, few listeners).

There's also supposed to be a TRTÉ radio station launching on DAB according to the press release, although when this is supposed to occur and what it might replace hasn't been elaborated on.

and to be fair you don't look at radio logos so it's just going to look new to people who work there

True, I've never looked at a radio logo. I have no idea what BBC Radio 1's looks like, for example. When they get a website or start advertising on TV I might, however.

Unusually The Den idents and DOG are still being used. The new branding is only used on menus and promos.

what I mean is you don't look at logos for radios as you don't watch them but for telly you have to see the logo

If you listen to the radio on Freeview - then you usually get the logo of the station on-screen as an MHEG5 digital text graphic overlay.
