I've read elsewhere that they may have lost 4 units.

More updates on the local newspaper site:-

Poor coverage on the local BBC website, ironic as it's within the same 'trade' !

I live in Bracknell and am about 2.5 miles away from the fire site. The flames were so tall I could see the fire from my house. Am actually quite disappointed in the coverage of this story as the fire seemed pretty serious and has completely destroyed the building. The smell of smoke still around this morning when I left home.
Was tracking twitter to see news outlets reporting this story. Getreading obviously first to report it, but RT was the first 'national' news to report it with giant breaking news banners on their homepage. ITV and BBC took nearly 6 hours (next morning) to finally get an article published.

Yes, and I'm told Meridian ITV's web page initially reported the fire was in Reading !

You sure, thats amazing
?! I know that articles were filled with stories about the train line being stopped between Reading and Ascot because of the fire. (NEP Visions situated right next to the train tracks)

Well, as I say, that's what I was told, and I've no reason to doubt that's what the person saw !
It wasn't there very long, soon corrected.

The report on the BBC Oxford news yesterday said that they had 3 drivers on site at the time who managed to drive 10 units out of the site during the fire

Yes. The shots taken by a drone show quite a few trucks outside and seemingly safe. They have certainly lost some units, and goodness knows how much kit (Cameras, Lenses, EVS, Triax, etc etc) that would have been
sitting on warehouse style racking. There's no way any of that could have been saved in time.
It's a real blow for them. They only moved two years ago from an awful cramped site at Staines, to the Bracknell premises, which was luxurious (in comparison !).
There will be some frantic activity to fulfil this weekends' sports commitments, and short to medium term
a real continuing headache. The only plus (and the most important one) no one was injured.

I'd guess the RWC final being last week will also be a plus in that there's no major events on this weekend.
There'll probably be a lot of cross hires over the coming weeks. Neg Earth (major lighting / event production hire company) had a similarly major fire earlier in the year (losing every piece of kit that wasn't out on a job) and their competitors were very helpful in helping them meet their bookings. I'd be very surprised if the other OB companies don't help out similarly.
(You're being polite calling the Staines site cramped, flipping nightmare is more like it!)

Yes, OBs are a very 'close' community !

Ha, yes, I got there at 7am once, easy parking, but I was so boxed in, I couldn't easily escape before 5 !
Operations have been relocated to Observe's outfit in Slough (NEP bought OBS last year)

It is a rather quiet weekend for Visions. Off the top of my head, it's 'only' the 3 premier league games and Channel 4 racing where the main units would be out at.
Not sure if they have the BBC/BT Sport FA Cup live game contract?
