Cilla wouldn't go back to Blind Date because she resigned by making an announcement right in front of everyone at the beginning of the last show. She realised it was time to end it all. Blind Date was very much past it's sell-by date.
It's very difficult to get it right. Blind Date was a very popular show in it's prime, but it needed to progress (as somebody said about millionaire a few posts back). They did try (I don't know how exactly, I havn't watched it in years), but I think it was too late by then, or it was just a step in the wrong direction.
A lot of younger presenters are either really bland or really annoying, and sometimes both! Look at Fearne Cotton on CBBC, she's terrible! All bounce and mouth, but no real personality. Mel Sykes has no personality. Ant and Dec have too much ego about them for me, they seem like the type of guys who are gonna be messed up in a few years having had too much of a good time. Cat Deely (learned how to spell it) is just "good looks" (actually, she's just another lame blonde girl) and nothing else really. There's too many to mention, and they arn't just on ITV.
Its actually Cat Deeley, and she is a very good presenter. She has personality, as she was so diverse to play so many characters on sm:tv. If you'd watched sm:tv, you wouldnt be calling her a lame blonde girl. Melanie sykes, I agree, not a fan, shes good with des as she's a good sponge for his material and is the one that manages to hold him together, on her own, she should stick to movie premieres like on the big breakfast!
Why cant ant & dec have a good time, they've worked all of their lives trying to make things a success, their pop career, their teen shows, and now that they have finally made it, after the success of sm:tv, which most probably taight them something, they may as well enjoy it! They are fun presenters, good at their job, and are most probably two of the best for doing what they do in these times. I'm not saying that they are morcombe and wise, but they are good in their own way!
