Why’s Linda Barker not on the list? I know she's 'hot' at the moment with companies using her here, there and everywhere, but she is starting to become a Pain in the Proverbials.

Anyway, I vote Lisa Riley. She never made me laugh anyway. As Anne Robinson might say, “Dispatch the deadwood, drop the rot and vote off the weak links”

ITV1 could make a new show out of this. We know how much they love us to text and vote, and use our red buttons to vote too. It could bring back to life the title 'Drop the Celebrity' but this time the show not involving a plane or Mark Durden-dodar.

Anyway, silly ITV. Make Idents full of Celebs, then decide ‘we might get rid of these Celebs now’. Well the idents will look bloody good now wont they, if these celebs are dropped.

Here are my opinions on some of the people mentioned;

Ant and Dec

Excellent at presenting Pop Idol and Saturday Night Takeaway - these 2 should never be dropped from ITV, there is no other double act like them - ITV would be mad to let them go

Davina McCall

Good at presenting Popstars the Rivals on ITV1 but I think she should stick to Big Brother on channel 4 and ITV should get rid of her

Chris Tarrant

His program WWTBAM has become rather boring so they should get rid of him and replace WWTBAM with something new!

Melanie Sykes

A very good presenter on Today with Des and Mel and also did well on the British Soap awards 2003, a shame her prime time show The Vault was a flop, ITV should stick with her

Lisa Riley

Get her back on Emmerdale where she belongs

Tara Palmer-Tomkinson

Absoutely hopeless, get rid asap

I also think ITV were absolutely right to axe Matt Durden Smith, Kerry McFadden and Robert Kilroy Silk - especially Kilroy, him and the BBC are welcome to each other.

Yes, Mark (Matt) whoever durden-smith is not much. When all you can boast about is being 'a slightly over weight and Hairy-Chested bloke' then well, you're not going to go far in TV.

Busty Kerry, well she will still be on loose so that’s ok. Yes, she is/was a bit poop on Elimidate, Britain’s sexiest etc but never mind. Still not a bad girl but best in Daytime.

Robert Kilroy Silk was only on ITV for all of 5 minutes anyway so no big fuss needed over him never being seen on ITV1 again. Him on the Beeb is ok. He's good at his own talk show. Funny when he takes the P... out of the thick people on his show moaning about something or another!!

It's silly to say that they should NEVER be dropped from ITV. There will come a time when they lose their looks, and the audience tires of them.

I think Jez means; they should never be dropped while they are still young, very very good and hot stuff. Yes, when they are old and past it and we have some new and better people, let them go, but until then, ITV will keep them
Anyway, I'm sure Ant and Dec will leave TV and presenting before ITV have to push them.

Whataday obviously I dont mean they should *never* be dropped from ITV - I just think ITV should keep them for the forseable future.

And yeah This Is Granada I agree with you - that Kerry is better off on daytime tv, I didnt think much of her primetime shows like Elimidate either.

Chris Tarrent, Pam Ferris, Des Lynam - fine, leave 'em alone.

the rest can rot in hell. they are all far to full of themselves. I can't believe nobody has voted Cat D off. (Can't be arsed to learn to spell her surname correctly.) Ant and Dec have always made me see red, especially in the Byker Grove days. In fact, Byker Grove itself was often a source of red vision for me.

I think what Nigel Pickard said is a good idea, the channel needs to be refreshed at times, maybe they should go back to the old system, when I mean this, I mean when LWT said that they cancelled On The Buses and Upstairs Downstairs to make way for new programmes, which should be done today, really there are faces and programmes which should have been dropped sometime ago.

Davina McCall, Lisa Riley, Des Lynam, Tess Daly and Tara Palmer Tomkinson all need to be dropped when the chance comes, as all of the programmes featuring these have been getting dull and stale, such as You've Been Framed, The Premiership etc. Plus these people don't really fit into mainstream ITV.

ITV should keep Ant and Dec for a while IMO as they're good, I'd say for Tarrant that Millionaire needs a serious rethink or carry on with Tarrant on TV really, otherwise if he was sacked where else would he go, plus I think having Millionaire once a week isn't too bad. For Mel Sykes she should keep to daytime, but I think Des O Connor should be back in Prime Time more often.

how unlike Nigel Pickard this is. Axing things for no good reason just to prove he's in charge. Not like him at all.

On a related note - when are the beeb going to get rid of Ian Wright? and for that matter when will they all get rid of Dale? He's dreadful.

Well, the Premiership is going as BBC have regained the rights for Premiership football highlights. Anyway, I don't really see how The Premiership can be 'stale' when it's essential viewing for football fans. And, as I've said Des is guided by his job i.e. he'll probably retire after Euro 2004, when ITV will only have 1 Champ League game per fortnight.

Plus, hasn't Johnathan Wilkes got the You've Been Framed job now?

They went wrong with wwtbam when they put it on almost every other day. They should've kept all 10 contestants, had them on one after the other in whichever order fastest finger says.

When the ten have had their share of the dosh, they finish it and come back like a month or 2 or 3 or 4 later.

I think they should make it live too and have ppl at home vote on ask the audience. More themed nights? Sports, Movies, TV... maybe several rounds where they choose a subject.. extra lifeline - bring the flipper back. Put the prize up so many £ if the last contestant reached a certain point. i.e.: Jackpot goes up by £1000 if last contestant reaches the first milestone, goes up again by £32,000 if they reach the second milestone.

All ideas, proves theres a lot that can be done to improve it. Even Chris himself admits its a long haul to get to the best part at 32,000. Its a shame that after all the success they had with that show in such a small space of time, they had to show it too many times and let it get too boring.

I'm surprised ITV2 hasn't started showing US, Canadian, or OZ versions of the show.

(edit - they haven't... have they?!)
