The Fly in my soup advert was for Smirnoff I believe. Think it was played twice back to back when it was shown the first few times.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sA-aTE0iheI

I just released why I thought there was a fly in the Castlemaine. Was that the only time those adverts ever got played?
I do seem to recall a version of the ad finishing focussed on the guy by the BBQ as well which would correlate to your memory and seem to suggest they were shown more than just the one time on that YT clip as it doesn't seem to be in there. The linked to Campaign article from the time mentions the special batch of adverts were planned for showing around several ITV Movie Premieres, and goes on to mention one of the ones planned being Groundhog Day.
Right after posting the link earlier it suddenly dawned on me I actually have the original Movie Premiere airing of Groundhog Day from October 1996 on a Betamax tape I ended up with. I've checked and despite what the article said was planned in August, it certainly doesn't look the Castlemaine batch actually aired during this film (that's in the Anglia region) - although there is what was presumably a specially put together Ford Escort advert in one break, which repeats a sequence over and over again!

There was an advert that used to air in the 90s I think, whereby the government (I believe) were raising awareness of littering and clips of people in the street dropping litter were shown, with a smashing or breaking glass sound effect.
After a bit of hunting i've found one example of the series of adverts that were produced:

Can't seem to find any trace of the adverts on Youtube though.
May not be what you're referring to but this is similar to what you describe, though a PIF from it says here 1987:

Thankful someone else remembers it stopping at the guy at the BBQ,
Did Anglia just not broadcast them? or did they change their minds What other films got that pleasure during later part of 96. Were there all on a Saturday night.
I saw that when i was around 9-11. At first thought it was part of the film. i'm a bit complexed you never released you were watching an advert in advert thread?

YES There were more than nine, the big question has to be what other films got the pleasure?? How many were made in total.
Turns out the mirror had a competition:

Get set to bid farewell to the bush-hatted cobber who fronted beer giant Castlemaine's wacky advertising campaign for the past 12 years.
And join us in giving a warm welcome to gorgeous Lara Feltham - the glamorous model who is going to be the new face of Australia's favourite brew, Castlemaine XXXX.
Tonight on ITV sees the launch of the Aussie beer's unique, ground-breaking pounds 1m "Fresh as XXXX" advertising drive that is sure to have as big an impact as the old campaign. Nine ads will be aired - each with a significant change - during the premiere of Demolition Man (9pm). The massive pounds 1 million investment is the largest sum of money spent in one night in British advertising history!
To celebrate the new adverts we've teamed up with our pals at Castlemaine to give every Mirror reader the chance of winning a can of XXXX. All you have to do is watch the film and the ads - and you could be a winner.
Turn to pages 2-3 to find out how to win your can while you enjoy the action in Demolition Man...

The Gold Blend couple adverts, which were soap-like episodes ending on a cliffhanger. After the success of the original batch they brought back the idea with a different pair of actors and a different storyline.
Apparently the third version got binned after just the first advert in the series had gone out.
