My thoughts are also with his family - RIP Magnus.
I guess we shouldn't expect Sally on Reporting Scotland tomorrow night, as correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm certain that Sally is his daughter.

That's very sad news indeed. Among the tributes and eulogies - all of which will major on Mastermind - I wonder whether any of them will mention the excellent childrens' programme he fronted for the BBC at about the same time as Mastermind was starting in the early '70s. It was called 'Unsolved Mysteries' and was my introduction to him as a presenter. As well as being a very well made programme it also had a particularly haunting theme tune. I wonder if any of the programmes survive, or whether they were wiped. I remember that the series was repeated at least once, as I did see several of the programmes again the second time around, probably about a year after its first transmission.

I reckon the Mastermind trophy should be renamed the Magnuss Magnusson Trophy.

I would like to offer my sincere condolences too, this is very sad news.
I had the pleasure of sitting next to Magnus and his wife on a GNER train from Edinburgh Waverley to London Kings Cross several years ago. They were both absolutely delightful and Magnus answered my questions about Mastermind like he had been asked them for the first time. He was warm and charming and made my trip one to remember.
Rest In Peace Magnus.

I recall his time spent as one of the presenters on Pebble Mill at One. His affable approach made him something of a smoothie legend, and was oft described by his co-hosts Alan Ticthmarsh and Judi Spiers as "ice-cool Magnus".
RIP.
