RIP Lynn. A superb broadcaster and campaigner.

Sophie Raworth tribute .....
I have known Lynn since I was 14. She inspired me to become a journalist. She has lived next door to my parents for decades. She has been the most wonderful, generous, kind friend to me and my family for such a long time. Can’t believe she has gone. https://t.co/hJEeup5OEQ

Very sad news. She fought for what was fair most of the time, even if it was against the big wigs.
It's thanks to Lynn that Watchdog was resurrected after being initially cancelled in the 80's. It's also thanks to her that consumer household items in the UK are nowadays safety regulated and fire retardant, and that electrical plugs no longer had to be wired by hand on electrical appliances.
She'll be missed.

George Alagiah tribute
So sad to hear that Lynn Faulds Wood has died. After I was diagnosed with bowel cancer she spent many a phone call giving me advice about treatment and moral support. She was kind, generous, purposeful and strong. RIP Lynn.

Yeah, the first series in 1985 was almost the last, but then the Beeb invited Lynn to make a consumer series for daytime, and she said it should be Watchdog, so it got a reprieve.
I have fond memories of Lynn and John era Watchdog, my dad and I used to watch it in my bedroom while my mum watched Corrie, followed by, and later preceded by, Telly Addicts. A great double bill.

Took no BS but would join in with lighter stuff too.
I seem to recall her being a guest on Going Live and Trev and Simon doing a routine about reporting her to Watchdog as a breach of Trades Descriptions (because she doesn't fold wood), which she seemed happy enough to play along with.

She also took part in a French & Saunders sketch in which they were sending her up, with Jennifer pretending to be Lynn, hosting ‘Watchout’.

I have this very vivid memory of the LFW / John Stapleton era Watchdog. Partly because of the "In The Doghouse" segment which had a silhouette of a cooling tower in the background (our local power station had just been demolished) and partly because of her segment on opening pop bottle tops without using a tool because the release of CO2 had projected the lid into the openers' faces and blinded some folk in one eye.

Very shocked and saddened. Loved watching her contributions on The Papers on the BBC News Channel, with her equally legend husband John Stapleton. Rest in peace and condolences to John and family and friends.
