I await to be shot down but I am 99.9% sure that the answer is no. Granada would never have let them drop the ITV tag (they were pushing their luck asking for their own ident).
And for the record the LWT Videowall is one of my favourite TV idents. The original soundtrack and weird colour scheme let it down but I thought the revised effort was superb. ITV1 is crying out for an ident like it for use over the weekend.
Looking at this ident now, does anybody know whether there is a version of this ident without the ITV logo "border"?

If such an ident was shown today the mismatch of colours and misalignment of images on the virtual videowall would send Worzel into cerebral shock.

I think it was introduced due to the fact that the 1999 Generic Hearts just looked poor on LWT, especially in comparison to what they had prior to and what Carlton were offering at the time, I think the spinning Hearts only lasted about 4/5 months on LWT before they got the videowall, although not great, it looked far more weekend-y.
I don't see why they couldn't have brought back the 1997-99 ident and flipped an 'itv' logo underneath it, I don't think it would have looked too bad IMO.
I must say that isn't my favourite LWT ident. It was rather weak compared to some of their earlier incarnations.

I don't think it was even that long was it? A handful of weekends at the most

That would have been nice (as that was a great ident) but surely the point was to include the hearts?
Also they'd have hit problems when their pres went widescreen!

The multicoloured LWT lettering never seemed to sit right on the blue background of the hearts idents, plus the fact that LWT didn't have a separate logo unlike everyone else meaning they couldn't use the same layout as everyone else. (I know Border went with italic lettering only)

HTV.
But yes I would agree that the flat logo looked terrible. Although looking at the unaired edits it could have been worse: it could have been yellow!
