LWT ident 13:30

Did anyone see the LWT ident at 13:30??!

It wasn't the videowall, just a blue screen with the ITV1 logo

What's going on?!

I caught a glimpse of that and wondered what was happening.

I'm telling you, after a couple of weekends you will get bored with LWT's presentation style. You may be enjoying it at the moment, but not in a couple of weeks. NO VARIATION!!!

There must have been some problem at 1:30pm because the videowall was back, in all its glory at 2:30pm.

Yeah I agree. The presentation on LWT isn't exactly thrilling. It's not what it used to be, and I speak for most of the channels. The worst however has to be the GMG North stations, they are completely crap.

It beats me just what Granada think they are doing. They were supposed to be sorting out their crappy Northern stations ready for a new look in January next year, and then they go and launch that purple YTV thing with the Granada name under it as seen as an end caption on some YTV progs. They really have not got a clue have they!!

All LWT show is that friggin video wall, although it was nice at first it gets on my nuts after a while, surely they good come up with some variations of the videowall!

I think ITV stations should go mad, be inspired, and take the SMG approach - those Scottish idents are so modern and fresh. Great soundtrack, great idents, great presentation! I'm getting rather bored with videowalls, hearts and stars. Move away from computer generated backgrounds and towards live action modern idents.

I agree. Anglia and Meridian a few months ago were examples of how the standard ITV branding could work. Now they've been reduced to just higher than the stamdard of Leeds (the only difference being local announcers and full idents).

If you had two blocks of stations, one doing things quite nicely and promoting the brand well, and the other being an inconsistent mish-mash that occasionally decides it's a good idea to mention station names after months of not bothering, and daren't display full idents incase mistakes are made (and then make loads of mistakes anyway) which would you choose to impose on the other?

Granada's logic seems counter to mine.

Mind you there is at least one person on this forum who seems to think that Leeds is the place to be continuity-wise. Can't think why...

And yes, LWT can get tedious. I was there for a few weeks a few months back. On the first week, wow this looks good, right up to the standard of past LWT glories. By the 3rd week however, I was yawning. Yes it *is* better than the other Granada stations, much better, but its not as good as it used to be. One smashing ident does get stale after a while.

If you are getting board with videowalls, hearts and stars, I suggest you tune into Tyne Tees or Yorkshire at 5.05pm, You won't see neither.

It it works like it does every other week (They'll be a cockup now I've pointed you all towards it)
We'll have a localised ident, made in-house, without any sign of corporate-ness, the proper station name will be mentioned, and the name of the regional news presenters, and even who is presenting it, will be mentioned!

And then Andrew will notice that Granada and TTTV's news on Saturdays is 5 minutes shorter than YTVs, and use that as an excuse to say how wonderful YTV is.....

And YTV will doubtless forget to play the TTTV local ident... AGAIN...

Yes, I've seen the local idents. Very nice too. But I still keep finding myself tuning into Scottish - I just love everything about it.
