How the LWT Building (Kent House) was built...

Venturing off topic (although the thread allready has) but it's interesting to look back on the hearts era presentation now. Although widely derided at the time, its IMO better than anything they've had since. Also interesting to note that even though the network had been genericised, there was still a huge amount of variation between the presentation used by different stations back at the time these clips were captured in late 2001 (most notably, each station still had its own unique endboard dating from pre-generic days, even though the generics had been airing for 2 years by this time.

No, frostat01 wasn't. However I think he meant he saved them and uploaded it to his YouTube account but that got suspended due to ITV's youtube crackdown.

Ah, ok thanks for putting me right Funny how they started off so well & ended up as they did, same music all the time & same end slide save for the regional names. No wonder LWT quickly dropped them.

Was it ever mentioned why Border dropped it's logo & just had the font, was it a technical issue with the logo?

Maybe the single horizontal line part of the "chopsticks" would be too thin, with the logo produced at that small a size (i.e. within the blue square), presumably in yellow, to correct scale/proportions? If so, the logo would look like it just had the > part of the "chopsticks", ending in the centre of the outer shape, with nothing sticking out of the right hand side. Which would look wrong/sh*t.

I doubt that this was the case, but it's just a thought.

Note the design at the end is like the early trailer designs after the rebrand on itv.

Also, in the lwt one, don't you think the animations in the square were intended to be used a break bumpers as well.

Again, a beautiful ident in a superior ident set that should have been the centrepiece of ITV's 1999 rebrand. Compared to the hearts idents they just don't match at all. These earlier idents - especially the LWT one some posts above this - are so much more refined and... well, more interesting.

That is a spectacular ident. It isn't even on the same planet as the ones that were used. Talk about a serious heavywight ident, that oozes authority.
