Presentation staff involved in the move from Television Centre to the new Broadcast Centre at White City are said to be completely demotivated and morale has hit rock-bottom.

BBC One and BBC Two are set to move in the next month or so....just in time for Xmas....but, apparently, they won't move until the bosses of both channels are confident that the Broadcast Centre will get them over the Xmas period ok. The chances of that happening, at the moment, are pretty slim.

Some staff have been told that they're the reason the channels keep falling off air...although, in reality, the pres system they've installed isn't up to the job yet.

BBC World is still giving the engineers huge headaches because of all the language splits etc.

When will they realise that BBC Television channels should be broadcast from the heart of BBC Television...ie Television Centre.....in about 2 years, apparently! Confused

Source? Or is this all mere speculation?

I bumped into a guy I used to work with who now works for the BBC. He was after a job and said the vast majority were after a new job too.

It's obvious the Beeb have failed to get any noteable new channels/contracts, I just wonder if companies are waiting to see how well BBC 1&2 do there? If they have the problems that BBC 3,4 and the childrens' channels have had....that may well be trouble for the Beeb as it will be more high profile.

His advice was to keep the recorders across the output!!! Dodgy times.

I'm surprised at you, Neil! I though you were our resident upholder of English language standards. Very Happy

BBC Broadcast is hoping to win contracts to play out other companies' channels; that's why it changed from being a BBC department to a wholly-owned commercial subsidiary of the BBC. MovieMaker is predicting that BBCB will be in trouble if it doesn't win any new contracts, and that any companies considering awarding their business to BBCB are waiting to see how the move of BBC ONE and BBC TWO to the new Broadcast Centre goes before making a decision.

Speaking of low morale at the BBC, whatever happened to that strike by IT workers at BBC Technology over being sold out to Siemens that was supposed to cripple the Olympic broadcasts?

Confused

Charmed as I am to have that designation, James, I'm afraid this is quite clearly a case of intergalactic static passing through a sunspot, reflecting back off Saturn's rings and distorting the nerve connections between my brain and my fingers, causing temporary insanity and a minute drop off in linguistic standards..

Or perhaps I should have proof read it before posting. Wink

How can anyone suggest they aren't winning the contracts for new channels. Only a few months ago they has a massive splash in Ariel to announce that BBC Broadcast has won the contract to distribute....
