You could get any of the usual celeb names to do Aftersun though - it's a spin-off show and one day a week. You could imagine any of the usual ITV2 favourites doing it whether it be Emily Atack, Laura Whitmore or A.N. Other. I wonder if Ore Oduba or Rylan are free in early 2020.
The presenter rarely actually needs to be at the villa for Love Island - mainly just the start,final, Casa Amor etc. Many an eviction has been done by text over the years and it works just as well. If you've got Iain Stirling on-location anyway you may as well use him.
Plus the Flack entrances were always the absolute worst part of the show - the ridiculous strut, the slo mos and staged remarks by contestants all made it seem like it was Beyonce entering the villa not Caroline sodding Flack. It'd be quite funny to see Iain try and do the Flack entrance.
There are certain format points that are better delivered when a host is there such as when they merge Casa Amor and some of the more complicated evictions, as well of course as the final and Aftersun which definitely need a host. Aftersun is done in London so Iain won't be able to do that.
