The new series of Love Island is imminent, however, Caroline Flack has just been charged with assault:

TV presenter Caroline Flack has been charged with assault by beating after reports of a man being attacked, the Metropolitan Police say.

The TV star, 40, was arrested following an incident at approximately 5.25am on 12 December.

The man was not seriously injured.

A statement from police said: "She will appear on bail at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on Monday, 23 December."


I presume that someone will replace her.

Fingers crossed.

I think firing her would draw unfavourable comparisons with Ant McPartlin.

I would argue there’s an important difference between the two cases.

McPartlin was stupid and reckless, but there was no malicious intent.

If Flack admits or is found guilty of assault, there is clearly intent - and ITV will have a decision to make.

I imagine she'll sit at least this upcoming season out. Dare I say Maya Jama would be the ideal candidate.

She did a decent job on Survival of the Fittest 2 years ago which just so happened to be made by the exactly same team in the exact same country at the exact same time of year. So I reckon she's got a good chance.

If it means less of Maya on Radio 1 then I'd be all for it.

I can't see Caroline hosting it. Filming starts in a few weeks.
