Their winter line-up doesn't look too bad either.

I don't think that there was actually anything wrong with the format, or the presenters. The second series wasn't that bad but I think it suffered from the first series as that was carcrash TV.
They should have revamped the format completely instead of changing the name (as everyone called it celebrity love island anyway), a new presenter and new titles. In other words, they should have took the format and morphed it into a new show and not put it up against Big Brother.

IMO, the show was brilliant, and at times better than Big Brother. It suffered from being unable to shake off this tacky image it had given itself during its first series. I think it's for the best anyway. ITV needs to move away from this type of programming. Its winter schedule looks very impressive, and nice to see it's from the new team. They seem to have done a good job.

But, really, what was the point of it?
Why exactly do we want to see several Z-list "celebrities" trying to fall in love with each other on an island which is far away from anywhere? Even Big Brother had more of a point (if it does have one) when you consider it a "social experiment", but the inclusion of celebrities just makes me turn off.
It's just easier for companies to make such a show, rather than getting a good quality scriptwriter, a decent cast and loads of fancy costumes.
