Lottery Cock up

I was YouTubing Noels House Party yesterday and came across a few gungings.

Quite often the public would vote on who should get gunged, but there were a couple of examples there of the loser (or winner I suppose) jumping into the gunge tank as well - which nowadays would probably result in an OFCOM enquiry and refunds.

Another cock up tonight on the lotto, the thunderball number got stuck in the machine once dispensed - the guy with those fancy white gloves then said a very reharsed peice to the camera, and info will be availb on the BBC update later!

Funny how Alan told Jenni to give the ball a poke (it was only lodged in the rails anyway) but that was obviously a no no. Confused

To be honest, I wish they wouldn't televise the draws at all. It's more bearable on a Saturday, but I hate it on a Wednesday when there's a good programme on after the news and I'm sitting ready to watch it. Then the annoying lottery titles remind me I'm ten minutes too early.

Like someone else said, I think it would be a good idea to only show a caption of the numbers drawn earlier. We know it's all done in front of a witness, so why show the draw? In fact, they used to, and may still do - I'm not sure, draw one of the other lottery games on a Wednesday before the live broadcast, purely because they can't fit it all in.

The only problem with the current number captions is that they go on for too long and are bloody annoying. It's like being back at playgroup having the CA read the big bold numbers on the screen out slowly. Then they usually say something along the lines of "there are two lucky jackpot winners tonight, each scooping a massive £4 million, who unlike you don't have to get up early on Monday morning!" Nice of them to rub it in my face. Wink

The official really took himself so seriously, I couldn't help but laugh.

I didn't see the draw on TV, but I don't think anyone is allowed to interfere with the machine once it's running. No doubt there are contingency plans for such an incident and they obviously came into effect. I suspect they involve alot of checking before the draw can continue though, which is why they didn't complete it live on air.

Any clips?

If I'm reading it right, the Thunderball had already been drawn so apart from it not hitting the tray, there's no need to make an issue out of it really. It would be a farce if they redrew that ball again.

Going OT, but why on earth has tonight's triple rollover jackpot of £18m been declared "must win" - as in if it's not won, the prize roles down to 5+Bonus.

There have been higher jackpots than £18m before - and the lottery are shooting themselves in the foot a bit really as if they let it head towards £30m it might create a bit of interest in the main draws again.

Better still it goes to ITV!

That would be great but we all know that we would have to have seperate sponsors for all draws on the program if they got their hands on it. It would be like watching a 20 minute advert just for a few numbers Wink

It doesn't really matter which channel broadcasts it. All we need is someone like Alan "The Balls" doing a VO, and the man with white gloves pressing the button. They could do all the draws in 5 minutes.

They can forget everyone else that needs a mention in the studio (including the Z-list presenter and the pseudo-button pusher).

Now come on, we all know that makes far too much sense to ever actually happen Laughing
